The Light Factory Photo Arts Center (TLF), in collaboration with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s (UNCC) Contemporary Art Curation course, invites lens-based artists to submit to the exhibition In the Periphery. Delve into the liminal realms of nostalgia, memory, dreams, identity, and emotional states. Through evocative interpretations, In the Periphery seeks to illuminate the physical, metaphorical, and emotional transitions that define our existence on the edges of life’s experiences.

In the Periphery

Delve into the liminal realms of nostalgia, memory, dreams, identity, and emotional states.  Through evocative interpretations, In the Periphery seeks to illuminate the physical, metaphorical, and emotional transitions that define our existence on the edges of life’s experiences.

  • This exhibition is FREE to enter, and open to any photographic, lens or light-based work
  • Work must result in a digital file that our team can print on vinyl to be exhibited 
  • Each entrant can submit up to 5 images 
  • Images must be 1500px on the longest side, sRBG color space, .jpg or .png
  • Name your files with the naming convention: Firstname_Lastname_001.jpg or .png
  • Entries that don’t follow the naming convention will not be accepted
  • Once you submit the form, you should receive a confirmation email 
  • March 22, 2024: Entries close (Midnight EST) 
  • March 27, 2024: Accepted artist notified 
  • April 8, 2024: Print files due from accepted artists
  • April 20, 2024: Exhibition opening and reception 
  • May 13, 2024: Exhibition closes

*Accepted images will be printed by our team on large format vinyl (for free) and installed at The Light Factory Photo Arts Center. Artists retain copyright to their images. Prints and digital files will be destroyed after the exhibition. We reserve the right to use accepted images for purposes related only to the exhibition, including promotion. Artworks will not be for sale.
