Pinhole Camera (workshop)

Current Instructors: Michael O’Neill

Cost: $245 Members, $265 Non Members

The origins of pinhole imaging actually predate the invention of photography, and the techniques were used as early as the Renaissance to help us develop our understanding of how to translate the three dimensional world into two dimensions. In the hands of an artist, pinhole photography can be an amazing creative opportunity, one that allows creators to set aside all the normal conventions of photography ( resolution, framing, lenses, depth of field ) in favor of a liberating soft-focus aesthetic. Along the way, you will learn more about how light, film, exposure, and perspective work! In this course you will learn everything you need to know about creating pinhole cameras and pinhole images, from the most basic body cap to building your own camera and making your own pinholes. We will be working in the darkroom to process our images during each class. This course is a great fit for artists of any level, from beginner to advanced.
