EXHIBITION
JANUARY – MAY 21

In the Line of Sight: Joshua Galloway

CLOSING RECEPTION
Friday, May 21 / 6 – 8:30 PM

In the Line of Sight is an exhibition that explores the intersection of humanity and activism on the front lines.

ARTIST STATEMENT

To be in someone’s line of sight means you are visible. So many times in life I feel like black people aren’t visible. Folks think that racism and power projection from law enforcement don’t exist if you don’t see it or experience it. I decided to document the George Floyd protest in Charlotte, NC, to show that this can happen right in your own backyard.

I use photography as a tool and means to document the world around me. I make pictures that call attention to people, places, and things that other people overlook. This explorative journey of documenting the overlooked helps me engage more deeply with where I am in space and time. My goal is to make photographs that draw viewers into the past and now.
