Black & White Darkroom

Current Instructors: Trent Glass 

Cost: $300 Members, $380 Non-Members (4-week Classes)

In this 4-week course, you will learn how to develop and print black and white negatives film in the darkroom. You will learn hands-on how to develop film in our lab with chemicals provided. Then we will travel into the darkroom where you will be shown how to expose silver gelatin paper using several printing techniques such as dodging and burning and our split filer printing method. This is a class best suited for those with film photography experience.

    • Film camera basics, including key terms and concepts
    • How to develop your own negatives
    • How to print your own prints in the darkroom
    • Receive in-class critiques from the instructor
    • A film camera
    • The manual for the camera (if you have it)
    • Film (or negatives, if you already have them)
    • A journal or notebook

Cancelation Policy

The Light Factory reserves the right to cancel, combine, or reschedule courses to adjust for enrollment and to change course instructors when necessary. If The Light Factory cancels a course for any reason, each registered participant will be informed as soon as possible and will have the opportunity to transfer to another course.

Fees must be paid at the time of registration. You must cancel a minimum of five days before the course start date to receive a refund. No refunds will be made for canceling on the day of the course or after the course has started.

The Light Factory does not offer make-up courses or tuition reimbursement for student absenteeism. This policy applies to all students of all ages, including adults.
