TROY HULL – DEEP THOUGHT

Print information: Archival Pigment Print / 16” x 20” / Artist Proof / 2016

About the Artist:

Troy Hull began his career as a videographer and ENG truck operator in television news and sports. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to work on many major stories. From presidential visits from President Bill Clinton to President Barack Obama to being on the coast during several hurricanes that have hit the Carolinas. He understands the pressure of the news business. His hard work has paid off with several industry awards such as an Emmy and AP Press awards.

After more than twenty-five years as a news and sports videographer, Troy decided to turn his eye toward still photography. Every year, his children would bring home boring sports pictures that may have worked in the 1970s but not today. He wanted action pictures of his children that looked like the trading cards of old. He now brings that passion to all his photography work.

DAN BURKHOLDER – PARADE WATCHERS, ROMANIA

Print information: Platinum/Palladium Print / 8.5” x 8.5” / Signed / Artist Proof / 2019

About the Artist:

A master platinum printer, Dan was one of the first fine art photographers to champion digital technology by creating the digital negative in 1992. His methods allowed him to embrace the unlimited control of the new Adobe Photoshop and produce a negative from a computer file. His “digital negative” was used to print in the classic darkroom making beautiful handcrafted platinum prints in the early days of digital imaging when printers fell far short of producing fine art quality results.

By sharing his pivotal methods, Burkholder has become a unique teacher and mentor for thousands of photographers by bridging the worlds of classic photography with the evolving digital era. He continues to forge ahead into new areas of photography, preaching the fine art potential of the Apple iPhone and the smaller micro 4/3 cameras.

His innovations introduced two original darkroom techniques, creating the pigment over platinum print in 2001 and the platinum over gold leaf print in 2007.

I have always been attracted by the emotional reactions to the world around me that I have had as a human, and as an American, albeit one with an admittedly Southern persuasion. Growing up in the heart of the bible belt and living in the rapidly evolving world at the end of a millennium, I have been filled with a sense of wonder and curiosity.”

MICHAL GREENBOIM – OPEN BOOK – BUTTERFLY

Print information: Archival Pigment Print, Diptych / 5” x 15” / Signed

About the Artist: “Michal’s photographs are like whispers. They speak quietly about important things: childhood, memory, secrets. Her photographs are harmonious, poetic and lyrical lines that use color to seduce and haunt. They trigger my senses, especially touch and smell. Michal uses the camera to observe the world around her, often using a macro scale to pull us in. Her pictures explore a way of seeing that only the camera sees. I love that. She pushes at depth of field and focus to point at the way we might observe as children and the way we often remember as adults. She brings together disparate subject matter to create a deeper conversation about seeing. Really Seeing. The images become a mediation on form as a way to access memory.” Cig Harvey

KRISTINA ROGERS – UNTITLED

Print information: Archival Pigment Print / 9” x 12” /Artist Proof / Signed (1992)

About the Artist: Rogers was born in Heidelberg, Germany on February 11, 1945, just months before the end of World War II. After the war, the family emigrated first to London, England in 1947, and then to the United States in 1950. When Kristina was nine years old, her family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. Rogers’ contentious relationship with the religious education she received in childhood would provide fertile ground upon which she would later question, challenge, and engage these early teachings through her photographic work, in search of deeper spiritual and philosophical resonance. Rogers recalled these childhood and adolescent experiences, stating: “…this was when my lifelong quest for knowledge and understanding began.”
