Artist Talk: Photographing Conflict: Louie Palu’s Images of War
October 13, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Please join The Light Factory for an evening that examines how we view conflict through photography in the post-9/11 era with award-winning documentary photographer Louie Palu. Known for blurring the line between art and journalism, Louie will be sharing insights on three pieces of work: his new book Front Towards Enemy, which is the result of covering the frontline for five years in Afghanistan; his short film Road Through War, which is a journey along the frontlines in Ukraine; and his latest book entitled Federal City, which is a 10-year project that explores Washington, D.C., during the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Louie will be joined by Dr. Lili Corbus for a discussion and a Q&A. Dr. Corbus is an art historian and emeritus at UNC Charlotte, and she also wrote an essay that appears in Federal City.
