Chasing Speed & Light

Saturday, Oct. 14 & Sunday, Oct. 15 / 10 AM – 5 PM

Instructor: Jamey Price

Cost: $295 Members, $325 Non Members

Photographing car racing is one of the most intense form of sports action photography. Through this two-day workshop, you will learn the basic principles of photographing motorsport and simultaneously improve all other areas of your photography skills alongside professional motorsport photographer Jamey Price.

Students will get a full day of hands-on classroom training to talk about principles of sports action photography, how that applies to motorsport photography, and how that also applies to more simple subjects that you might encounter on a day-to-day basis. This includes using and understanding your DSLR, taking candid portraits using available natural light, and the principles of panning moving objects. All experience levels are welcome.

On the second day of the course, students will be given access to REAL racing action in Mooresville, North Carolina, at one of the world’s best kart track facilities, Go Pro Motorplex. Jamey will continue to help students put to practice the principles they learned in the classroom in an outdoor real world environment where they can practice posing drivers, capturing candids, and of course photographing racing karts at speed. This workshop will run rain or shine.

Equipment: A DSLR with interchangeable lenses are preferred. Telephoto lenses are not necessary, but are helpful.
